Type:  Group Initiative

Suggested Group Size: 10 - 15

Props: PVC pipes, marble, can or bucket

Directions:  A teambuilding activity where each participant gets one short length of half pipe, and the group must work together to deliver a marble down the pipes from start point to finish.   Facilitator can set up some sort of can or jug they must get the successfully to drop in.  Give group plenty of planning time and debrief as necessary after unsuccessful attempts.        

Increased challenge:
  • Have the can be further away from the group so participants at the beginning must run towards the end to successfully get marble in bucket. 
  • Tell the group that the marble cannot stop until it is in the bucket.

Potential Processing Outcomes: Teamwork, communication, Trust, Leadership, goal-setting

Approximate Time: 30 - 45 minutes

Variations: Replace props with pool noodles and golf balls. Now the group has to assemble the pipes using pool noodles. They cannot walk to the noodles with the golf balls.
